I know what it's like to be frozen in fear, scared to take the next step, just in case you stuff it up...
So the big question is...is it okay to be scared? I guess you know the answer to this one, and it's a resounding YES!
So, if it's okay to be scared, then is it okay to decide on your next steps based purely on your fears, and what you are scared of? Another obvious answer - no it's not okay. The main reason is because you are likely to make the safe decision, or not make a decision at all.
And sometimes to get to what you really want in your life - the stuff that does make your hair stand on end, and makes your heart skip a beat, requires you to move forward, no matter how scared you are!
If you need help doing this, you will definitely want to be a my next event.

The Stats on self doubt are not good!
This one is mostly for the ladies (and the gorgeous men who support and love us, and know how awesome we really are.)
Did you know:
85% of the world's population are affected by low self esteem. (From the Self Esteem Book)
Only 4% of women worldwide consider themselves beautiful
80% of women agree that every woman has something about her that is beautiful but do not see their own beauty
More than half (54%) of women globally agree that when it comes to how they look, they are their own worst beauty critic
So how does that impact your life?
Here are some of the ways many of my participants have said self doubt impacts their life:
1. They have not even applied for the job they desperately wanted, because they didn't feel they had what it took
2. They decided not to open up a business, because they didn't have all the skills they needed.
3. They went on their summer holiday, but sat on the beach rather than getting into their bathers, because they weren't happy with their bodies.
4. They never actively tried to find their soul mate, because they weren't comfortable meeting others.
Ladies, this is no rehearsal. No second chances here, this is it! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, let the world see your light shine.
The opposite of self doubt, is self belief. To gain self belief requires:
1. Practice, practice, practice
2. Doing things
3. Taking risks
4. Having a support team.
You can put some of these into place yourself, and that will definitely help. But most of the time there is an UNDERLYING ISSUE that we ourselves can not see.
Get someone to help you see that, and take the time to explore yourself, your thoughts, your beliefs and your actions (or lack their of).

Until next time

Are you happy? I mean really happy!
It's time for me to come out! As much as I love the corporate space, and the training I do helps businesses with service, sales and leadership, my TRUE passion comes down to one word!
Relationships!
So, of course we are all in a relationship of some kind - with ourselves, our loved ones, our friends, our colleagues.
But I want to talk about the relationships with your loved ones.
Because lets face it, these relationships are often the ones that impact us in every aspect of our lives. If things are not going so well at home, or in our personal relationships, this can really affect how we are at work.
Let me give you an example. Over my 7 years of corporate training, there has not been a training room where there has not been some discussion about what was going on in peoples personal lives.
And why would there be? Human beings bring the whole of them to the workforce, no matter how much we are told to "keep our business and our personal lives separate". The truth is, we can't! And why would we?
People who feel like they can share (appropriately) on how they feel about their personal lives at work, often build very strong relationships with their team mates, and share an understanding with them that creates a strong and supportive environment at work.
So why I am I saying its time to come out?
Over the past 6 months I have been grappling with the idea of talking about personal relationships in the corporate space. And everyone I have spoken to has been super supportive of this "coming out". The reason they have supported this, all the way from executives, to friends and family, is for the very reasons stated above.
About the same time I did a survey which was a very personal and confidential survey asking people about their relationships at home. This survey ranged from the very comfortable questions such as "If you could have more in your relationship, what would it be?" to the more personal and risque like "What are you most concerned about when it comes to your sexuality and sensuality"
I had 125 people complete the survey, which was no easy feat, as I was under cover you see!
But after getting back the responses it dawned on me that the 125 people who responded were all past, current and future corporate clients of mine! These are people who are reaching out and saying they need and want help and support with their intimate relationships!
So, here it is, I suggest, that if we want more happy people in the workforce, we start to explore how we can support them with their relationships on a more personal level, and we make it okay and acceptable to talk about our needs in an open and honest way.
Of course, there are boundaries that we are mostly highly aware of, and for the most part, people are generally sensible about what they will and won't talk about at work. But lets give people at work the chance to talk about how things are for them at home, and I can hand on heart say, it could be directly related to business success, profitability, less complaints, and an overall happier workforce.
How to cheat at self doubt and get away with it.
Sick of feeling doubtful? Here are some self doubt cheats for you :)
1 Self doubt starts with a thought.
The only way you can EVER possibly doubt yourself, is when you THINK something. Here is the juiciest tip you will ever get! You can control your thoughts! So, if you are saying something negative to yourself about yourself, you can change it!
2 Like most things you nurture, they will grow!
Have you ever heard the saying, what you focus on expands? Well, if you want to cheat self doubt, the best thing to do is to change what you are thinking! Replace it! The exact opposite is normally a good start. EG: I can't do this, becomes I can do this. It works! You only have to watch kids to know that it works.
3 Practice makes Confidence
Just like any skill, if you want to get better at it, you do it more often. So, like building confidence (kinda the opposite of self doubt) you have to work on it all the time :)
